Job Overview
Instructional Designer at Plan International
Job Description
Location: Globally flexible, Flexible
Company: Plan International
The Organisation
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.
We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.
We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years, and are now active in more than 75 countries.
The Opportunity
Through Programme Y.O.D.A (Your Organisation’s Data and Analytics), Plan is changing its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution and is taking a virtual approach to Y.O.D.A training.
As a Y.O.D.A Instructional Designer/e-learning developer, you will create engaging, visually appealing self-paced learning materials which capture and retain learner interest where the subject matter focuses on processes and systems. You will use your expertise to propose new activity types and better ways of working.
In this role you will develop system simulations and other interactive online activities using Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline (TBC). Whilst some online simulations are templated, others will require you to liaise with subject matter experts and apply instructional design skills to create engaging activities which meet agreed learning objectives.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced instructional designer, skilled at working with subject matter experts (SMEs) and crafting source content into clear, concise, engaging storyboards, meeting agreed learning objectives. They will also be required to develop videos and interactive online activities in Totara, our learning management system (LMS), which is integrated with H5P. The designer/developer will be able to create visually engaging learning content meeting Plan International branding guidelines.
System simulations for Y.O.D.A Training will be developed using Captivate. While we are interested in skilled Articulate/Captivate developers, our primary need is for excellent instructional design skills, supplemented by the ability to build modules from storyboard, using agreed tools, to be published in Totara.
You will have experience in working with subject matter experts to create relevant and engaging learning and instructional design skills (i.e. the ability todesign and storyboard engaging learning, using a variety of media, to meet agreed learning objectives)
You will also have strong attention to detail and the ability to work quickly, with high levels of accuracy, as well as the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. They will need to have robust communications skills in both written and spoken English, and the ability to apply diversity and inclusion principles within the training.

Type of Role: 12 month fixed term contract

Salary: We will be happy to disclose the salary and applicable benefits to applicants as part of this process, however, please kindly note that the salary and employment benefits will be set according to your location and therefore it is not possible to include full details here.
