United Nations Development Programme in Ghana
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been working in Ghana since 1972 to support the country’s development efforts. The UNDP in Ghana works in close collaboration with the Government of Ghana, civil society organizations, private sector partners, and other development actors to support the country’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

- Democratic governance and the rule of law: The UNDP supports the Government of Ghana to strengthen democratic institutions, promote good governance, and support the rule of law.
- Environment and climate change: The UNDP supports the Government of Ghana to promote sustainable development, protect the environment, and address climate change.
- Crisis prevention and recovery: The UNDP supports the Government of Ghana to prevent and respond to crises, including natural disasters, conflict, and displacement.
- Gender equality and women’s empowerment: The UNDP works with the Government of Ghana to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, including through increasing women’s political participation and economic empowerment.
The UNDP in Ghana provides technical assistance, policy advice, and capacity development support to the Government of Ghana and other partners to help them achieve their development objectives. It also supports the implementation of the SDGs in Ghana by promoting multi-stakeholder partnerships, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
