UNIVERSITY COMMENCEMENT (UNE) graduation 2023
The UNIVERSITY COMMENCEMENT (UNE) holds graduation ceremonies several times a year to confer degrees to students who have successfully completed their studies.
As part of Commencement activities, the University of New England will recognize the accomplishments of its graduates at individual College Graduation Ceremonies to be held on Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20.
While the six college ceremonies will vary, each will honor the academic achievements of the Class of 2023 and will feature the presentation of awards and other distinctions to the graduating class. At the ceremonies, students will have the opportunity to individually cross the stage to receive recognition and congratulations from the college dean, obtain their diploma holder, and have pictures taken.
Graduate ceremonies will bestow special recognition for master’s and doctoral degree students by showcasing the placement of the hoods on the graduates, signifying their success in completing the graduate program. For many participants, the ceremony symbolizes the culmination of graduate studies and the degree recipient’s transition from student to colleague.
Each College Graduation Ceremony is similar to the University Commencement Ceremony in that there is a processional and recessional and graduates/faculty are dressed in academic regalia. While the college ceremonies are significant, they do not replace the University Commencement Ceremony. The University Commencement Ceremony, to be held on Saturday, May 20, will include all undergraduate and graduate students with full pomp and circumstance and will officially confer the degrees of the Class of 2023.

All vehicles parked in the handicapped parking areas must have official license plates or placards issues by the vehicle’s home state.
GRADUATE SEATING
During the ceremony, graduates will march in and be seated on the floor area of the Cross Insurance Arena. Seat location will be based on a graduate’s college and the degree they are receiving. Seating
The Cross Insurance Arena is fully accessible for guests with special/mobility needs with multiple designated seating areas (see diagram PDF). Cross Insurance Arena ushers will be available to direct guests to seating as needed. Each guest with a disability may be accompanied by one other guest into the designated seating area. The remaining guests will need to find other seating. This will be strictly enforced by Arena staff. We regret that this may provide some inconvenience for families, but does ensure appropriate seating for those guests with special needs.
