Research Coordinator, Cape Town

The DA wishes to appoint a dynamic, self-motivated and goal driven individual who will be based at our Federal Head Office in Cape Town. The successful candidate will report to the Opposition Research Specialist.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing research in the form of due diligence to inform party decision making
- Identifying research trends and strategies on effective ways to improve the DA brand
- Coordinating with provincial structures and external stakeholders
- Systematically organising the research database to ensure ease of access
- Researching political events and political messaging
- Summarising research reports and preparing research briefs
- Assisting with any ad hoc research related activities
Prospective applicants must meet the following requirements:
- National Senior Certificate or equivalent
- 3 years’ experience in a relevant role/field
- Computer literacy, particularly MS Excel and Powerpoint, and the ability work quickly across a variety of research platforms
- Ability to perform desktop research and due diligence, familiarity with Searchworks advantageous
- Proven track record in investigative and research techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
- Excellent administrative skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in more than one language advantageous
- Grassroots organisation and ability to relate to local issues beneficial
- Large and developed network of stakeholders including journalists, academics and relevant political commentators
- Commitment to and knowledge of the principles, policies, and programme of action of the Democratic Alliance
- Ability to work fast, accurately and creatively under tight deadlines
- A passion for politics and current affairs with an institutional knowledge of all political parties
- A team player who takes initiative and contributes own research ideas and analysis
- Willingness to go the extra mile, which includes working long and irregular hours, weekends, and public holidays where necessary
- Applicants MUST be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and have access to an insured vehicle for occasional use
