The DA is looking to recruit a committed, dynamic, self-motivated, and goal-driven individual in KwaZulu Natal. Long hours spent working in challenging conditions, striving to achieve a common and urgent goal, that of bringing REAL HOPE and REAL CHANGE to all South Africans.
The successful candidate will report to the Provincial Director with an indirect reporting line to the Provincial Leader.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Facilitating the delivery of all DA communication to the media, and to maximize the related outcomes
- Interacting and building strong relationships with media houses and journalists
- Arranging and coordinating press conferences/briefings and ensuring they are optimally attended by the media
- Assisting the Communications Coordinator in ensuring that Party communications are widely distributed to ensure maximum coverage
- Facilitating interviews with DA Public Representatives
- Maintaining and updating accurate media databases
- Providing data-driven and qualitative reports
Prospective applicants must meet the following requirements:
- National Senior Certificate or equivalent
- Tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communications or any relevant field
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite
- Proficiency in more than one language advantageous
- Extensive experience in devising and driving a strategic organisational communication agenda
- Experience in political communication and/or journalism advantageous
- Firm understanding of the media industry
- Firm understanding and knowledge of the South African political environment
- Ability to work fast, accurately and creatively under tight timelines and collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups
- Systematic, comprehensive and displaying excellent attention to detail
- Commitment to the principles, policies and programme of action of the Democratic Alliance
- Outcomes-orientated, not simply task-orientated
- Willingness to go the extra mile, which include working long and irregular hours, weekends, and public holidays where necessary
- Willingness to travel
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle for frequent use
