How do I appeal my SASSA status?

Here’s how to appeal a R350 grant under the new rules

1. For more information, please visit srd.dsd.gov.za
2. To lodge an appeal or check the status of an appeal, click the green bar.
3. Identify yourself by entering your ID number
4. Please enter your cellphone number
5. When you click the ‘send pin’ button, you will receive an SMS with your verification code
6. Click ‘Submit’ once you have entered the pin
7. Please select the month for which you are appealing
8. Choose the reason for your appeal by clicking on the drop-down arrow
9. Please click ‘submit’

Appeals must be lodged within 28 days of the date of the decision. The review process for a SASSA payment is as follows: 

1. Applicants must first submit an online application form.

 SASSA payments are available to residents of South Africa who are in need and who have been verified as being in need by the department. The payments are made through the Post Office or a bank. The payment dates are as follows: 

1. R350 payments will be made starting on the 1st of each month. 
2. Payments will be made until the 31st of each month. 
3. Payments will be made in arrears, starting from the 1st of the following month. 
4. Payments will be made in cash only.

Social grant payments for September will be released after the October social grant payments, according to the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa). Social grant payments for October will end on 5 October 2022, and R350 grant payments should have begun on 6 October 2022, according to Sassa.

Before applying, applicants need to ensure that they fit the eligibility criteria:

• Citizen, permanent resident, refugee, asylum seeker, and special permit holders from South Africa
• Unemployed
• Have no alternative source of income or financial support from any other source
• Between the ages of 18 and 60

The new cycle of the grant is also open to Caregivers who are not receiving any grant on their own behalf.

How can I transfer my SASSA grant to my bank account?

Grant recipients will have to:

1. Print out the form.
2. Take it to your bank to be filled in and STAMPED.
3. Submit it to a SASSA local office to be captured and processed.
4. As soon as this written request is processed, SASSA will then deposit the social grant money directly into the bank account.

SASSA status pending

As your application is still pending, it still needs to be screened and verified before being approved. Once approved, you will receive an SMS from SASSA requesting your banking details, then you will be paid.
