The Higher Education Student Loan Board (HESLB) has announced the extension of the online loan application period for seven days until Friday, August 23, 2019 to allow applicants who have not completed their application to use the extended time to do so.
HESLB CEO Abdul-Razaq Badru said in Dar es Salaam today (Thursday, August 15, 2019) that HESLB began receiving loan applications for the 2019/2020 academic year on July 1 this year and the deadline was supposed to be today, August 15, 2019.
According to Badru, HESLB has received requests from some credit applicants who have not completed their application due to various reasons including missing important documents.
“Although to date this morning (August 15, 2019) we have received 74,821 completed online applications, we have also received requests from our clients requesting additional time to complete important documents such as copies of their parents’ death certificates, letters from their sponsors and other documents … we have listened to them and added time, ”said Badru.
The CEO has called on loan applicants who have not completed their application to spend extra time to complete their application as HESLB will not extend any time after August 23 this year.
“We urge our applicants to use this additional time to complete their application as we will not extend it again. After August 23, we will begin reviewing the applications we have received to arrange qualified credits on time and transfer the credit to the universities before the schools open, ”said Badru adding:
“We urge our stakeholders such as the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA), the Zanzibar Social Event Registration Agency and the Tanzania Post Office (TPC) to continue serving the students during this period,” he said.
In the extended period until August 23, Badru said HESLB’s customer service desk will be open to provide credit information to applicants when needed. The desk is available from 2:30 am – 11:30 pm through:
